Meeting times: Monday 6.30pm – 8.00pm

 

The Achievement Pathways is a continuous series of personal achievements across the whole program, from the beginning of the Joey Scout Section through to the end of the Rover Scout Section.

The Achievement Pathways are characterised by the pathway around, and up a mountain with achievements identified through a series of uniform badges.

The Achievement Pathways consists of:

Cub Scouts participate in activities that are adventurous, fun, challenging and inclusive each activity usually done by the whole Unit together or in smaller groups known as a Patrol. 

Cub Scouts activities include:

★ Organising and playing team games
★ Learn practical skills like knots and construction
★ Going on Outings and Nature Trails
★ Orienteer and learn to read maps and compasses

★ Short Camping Trips
★ Sporting activities
★ Air Activities
★ Water Activities and Water Safety

*The commencement for advancement in Sections may vary up to 6 months.*

Cub Scouts may commence transition (Link Badge) any time after their 10th birthday and have progressed to Scouts by their 11th birthday. Extensions beyond age range may be granted in accordance with the Victorian Branch Scouting Instructions (VBSI) Section 2.1.12. Further information is available from our Group Leader.

Peak Award - Grey Wolf

The Grey Wolf Award is the highest award you can earn in the Cub Scout Section. It is considered the pinnacle of your Scouting at this stage and is a milestone in your Scouting life.

The Grey Wolf Award brings together the core elements of the Achievement Pathways as well as a Personal Development Course, an Adventurous Journey and a Personal Reflection. 

It’s not expected that all Cub Scouts will attempt and complete this award, but all are welcome to ‘give it a go’. All members of the Cub Scout Unit, the Unit Council and Cub Scout Leaders will support Cub Scouts through the final steps of the Achievement Pathways. 

The Grey Wolf Award the requires approval of the Unit Council. All the award requirements must be completed and approved before the Cub Scout progresses to the Scout Section.

To be awarded the Grey Wolf Award, Cub Scouts need to complete: –

Program Essentials

  • Milestone 3 (Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 are optional)

Outdoor Adventure Skills

  • Stage 3 in all three Core Areas of Bushcraft, Bushwalking and Camping 
  • Progress eight Stages during the Section or since achieving the Joey Scout Challenge Award (can include advancement of Core skills) 

Special Interest Areas

  • Six Projects in at least two areas 
  • Each Project is a minimum four-hour duration including Plan>Do>Review>

Adventurous Journey

  • Plan> and lead an Adventurous Journey of at least four hours duration.
    • A maximum of two Cub Scouts may plan and lead the journey. 

Personal Development Course

  • A Personal Development Course

Personal Reflection

  • Upon completing the requirements of the Grey Wolf Award, the Cub Scout will Review> their journey through the Section.

The Grey Wolf Award the requires approval of the Unit Council. All the award requirements must be completed and approved before the Cub Scout progresses to the Scout Section.

Uniform

Youth members, young adults and Leaders are required to attend in full uniform, which includes section specific shirt, scarf, woggle and enclosed shoes (unless otherwise advised for individual meetings). Uniform requirements are available from the Youth Badge Placement link below.

Parents and/or guardians are required to purchase a uniform shirt prior to their youth member being invested.

The current price for a Cub Scout button-up shirt is $46.95. These shirts are available from size 8 to 18. Size Charts are available from The Scout Shop website (see link below).

Prices are current as at 20th of October 2025. These prices are subject to change; please confirm current pricing prior to ordering.

Scarves, woggles, shirt badges are provided from Section funds upon investiture.

Parents and/or guardians will be required to replace any of these items at their own expense if lost or damaged.

From Scouts Victoria: The style of clothing to be worn below the waist should be tailored slacks or skirt; however, the colour requirement is that these garments for all official occasions and functions should be black or Navy blue.

These occasions are defined as: Awards Ceremonies e.g. Queen Scout’s, BP Awards, Leader Awards etc.; Government House; ANZAC Day; Any public event; Jamborees, Moots, Ventures etc.; Interstate and overseas travel; Youth Forums and National Youth Council.

Navy blue, grey slacks, knee length shorts or skirts may be worn for Group meetings. Neat, practical footwear is to be worn. Individual choice of black or brown shoes; boots or joggers.

All Members should dress appropriately for the type of activity in which they are participating.

New members are requested to E-mail our Group Leader prior to attending a meeting night.
